Hiring trends in Legal Finance- March 2025

Back to Blogs

As we head into the last month of Q1, it's hard to believe how quickly the year is flying by! The legal finance world is buzzing with activity, and we're seeing some exciting trends and opportunities emerging.

Commercial Finance

There's a surge in commercial finance roles, including management accountants and finance business partners. Firms are eager to bolster their commercial finance teams to drive performance and profitability. Experienced finance business partners who can work closely with senior stakeholders are in high demand, helping law firms achieve growth.

Finance operations

In the finance operational space, there's a continued demand for experienced revenue controllers, accounts payable, and credit controllers. The market for revenue roles has been particularly active recently. It's important to note that revenue controller roles can vary significantly from firm to firm.

Some positions focus on WIP (Work In Progress) management, while others may concentrate on billing or credit control. Different firms structure their teams differently, which means these roles can have varied responsibilities and scopes.

Interim

On the contract and temporary side, while it has been quieter, we've had some interesting contracts come to market, ranging from systems and data roles to standard operational roles like accounts payable and cashiering.

Productive conversations with clients indicate plans to increase headcount and support projects, necessitating more contractors. Contracts vary in length, from short-term assignments of a few months to longer-term projects lasting 12-18 months.

Regional

Outside of London, the regional market is bustling with activity. We're supporting clients with various roles, with significant demand for experienced finance business partners and credit controllers. Teams are focused on building their credit control functions and increasing headcount to improve cash positions for the year ahead. This trend is expected to continue, making March a promising month for opportunities.

If you're looking to explore the market or want to understand the current trends in your area—whether it's revenue, credit control, accounts payable, cashiering, management accounts, finance business partnering, or finance systems, on a permanent, contract, or temporary basis—please reach out to the team.
