Revenue Lead

NEW Revenue Lead position available at top US law firm. This role comes from a firm restructure and adding additional headcount to the revenue team so it is a very exciting time to join!

As the Revenue Lead, you will look after the Capital Markets group and take full responsibility for the working capital cycle in its entirety from the minute the file is open, until the bill is paid. You will act as a finance business partner to your lead partners within the group alongside a Revenue Specialist who will work underneath you for the Capital Markets group.

The revenue team will be a team of 8 people once the additional headcount roles have been filled (4 Revenue Leads/ 4 Revenue Specialists) who will individually cover 1 of their 4 main practice groups as trusted advisors. This is cradle to grave work, matter to matter really getting close to the deals, clients and partners and really facilitate a smooth-running process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Being a visual and online leader of the operation for the entire practice group. There will be a requirement for you to form relationships with all the key stakeholders within the practice group and offer support and solutions to a wide range of complex revenue related issues.
  • Offer hands on support, directly to the practice group to ensure the greatest level of visibility to all relevant parties, with efficiency, accuracy and professionalism.
  • To attend regular meetings with Partners to discuss their Work in Progress and Accounts Receivable, following the escalation process where appropriate, this may also include offering detail on profitability and liaising with other teams around the network to help offer a high end and seamless service.
  • Be responsible for the creation of several ad hoc reports to satisfy varying revenue needs, from forecasting to historic data and present in a digestible fashion.
  • To promptly follow-up with Partners and Lawyers on all pending items, such as proformas, time and disbursement transfers, credit notes, write offs, and general queries.
  • To be responsible for the resolution of aged WIP and AR.
  • To coordinate write-offs on uncollectable debts and WIP balances in line with Milbank's approval levels.
  • To attend regular meetings with the Revenue Manager to provide updates on the revenue position of all assigned Partners / practice groups.
  • To oversee delivery of accurate proformas / fee updates / draft bills as requested and subsequent necessary edits as requested by lawyers; finalize bills & file appropriately. Also ensuring any credit notes or reversals are processed correctly.
  • To ensure that all billing information held within the system is accurate and kept up to date at all times including; tax codes, addresses, payor and third party details, rate agreements and EU VAT numbers and other required data, where appropriate.
  • To liaise with our e-billing team and monitor bills via the various e-billing systems, seeking regular updates and setting timelines for appropriate updates & follow up.
  • To review maintenance of rate agreements within the Finance system at both matter and client level & share appropriately any knowledge where appropriate to the wider team & practice.
  • To review client account balances on a regular basis and ensure these are dealt with promptly and in line with SRA and firm guidelines.
  • To test and report on requested changes to bill templates and other ad hoc projects.
  • To be responsible for the collection of debt for assigned Partners / practice groups by way of direct contact with Partner, attorneys or client.
  • To undertake analysis of debtors to highlight payment patterns and potential areas of concern to the Revenue Manager.
  • To deal with queries relating to allocation of receipts to client bills.

Experience needed:

  • The firm are prioritising experienced/ Senior Revenue Controllers with a US law firm background and experience of Elite 3e.
  • Additionally, team fit is going to be key for this and they will be looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative, a team player and engaging.

The firm offer hybrid working - 2/3 days a week in the office.
