CFO

NEW CFO position available at West End law firm to oversee the firms finance team and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will manage financial operations, supervise staff, and maintain key registers, while also handling complex issues and being a trusted advisor to the two Managing Partners.

This person will ideally take on Partner status.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Management:

    • Oversee the finance team (3 people) and manage all accounts-related emails.

    • Authorise outgoing payments and manage monthly shutdown and reconciliation of control accounts.

    • Review management accounts and monitor cash flow and client balances.

    • Monitor expenditure against budgets.

    • Manage partners drawings as well as special payments and tax payments.

    • Handle payroll, pensions, VAT, annual budgets, and financial audits.

    • Act as the firms COFA.

  • Compliance:

    • Conduct annual reviews of compliance and AML manuals.

    • Arrange annual AML audits and training.

    • Maintain registers for PEP, conflicts, and GDPR.

    • Manage CQS accreditation and reaccreditation processes.

    • Report to SRA and NCA as required and handle notifications of breaches.

    • Act as MLCO and supervise a dedicated compliance officer.

  • General Management:

    • Supervise and support the Office Manager and other staff as needed.

    • Manage relationships with PI brokers, banks, and auditors.

    • Handle formal complaints and act as the authorized contact for the SRA.

    • Monitor debtors and work-in-progress, and update engagement letters and TOBs.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Organise partners' meeting agendas and minutes.

    • Take on the full partner responsibilities, attending partners meetings and weekly management committee meetings.

    • Manage insurance renewals and relationships with property panels.

    • Oversee B Corp initiatives, including maintaining EMS and records of charitable donations.

    • Handle monthly donations to charity and manage commission arrangements for staff and consultants.

Qualifications/ Experience needed:

  • Proven experience in finance and compliance management.

  • Must be qualified in either ACCA/ACA

  • Law firm experience essential to be able to take on the COFA role.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and financial operations.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

  • Ability to handle complex issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to take a hands on approach when necessary

  • Hybrid working offered - 2/3 days a week in the office
